From Cornwall
to the Ozarks.

110 years, four generations, one flock.

The White Cornish came over from England 110 years ago — Frank Reese's grandfather carried them to the plains of Kansas, and the line never left the family.

In 2014 we drove up to Frank's Good Shepherd Poultry Ranch in Lindsborg and came home with our own start of the flock. Twelve years on, they're still with us — raised in the hills of southern Missouri, through a move in 2020, and every hatch since.

They graze all day. They grow slowly, the way a chicken is supposed to. They are the same bird your great-grandmother roasted on Sunday.

THE TIMELINE

1898
Standard of Perfection. The White variety of Cornish is admitted to the American Poultry Association's Standard of Perfection.
c. 1915
Cornwall → Kansas. Frank Reese's grandfather brings the White Cornish line from England to the plains of Kansas. The birds stay in the family.
2014
The drive to Lindsborg. We buy our start of the flock from Frank Reese at Good Shepherd Poultry Ranch in Lindsborg, Kansas.
2020
Move to Missouri. The entire flock relocates with us to Ava, Missouri. Every hatch since has been on this land.
Today
12 years in. Selling seasonal breeding pairs of the Natural, Heritage Breed White Cornish Cross to local buyers in Ava, MO.

Frank Reese runs Good Shepherd Poultry Ranch and has spent his life keeping standard-bred poultry alive against the tide of the broiler industry. If you can trace a Cornish back to him, you can trace it back to Cornwall. We're grateful to carry a small piece of that line forward.
